I quite accidentally discovered the technique that enabled this shoot. I thought for a moment that my camera was broken. It turns out that when you take a long exposure photo with a flash, the blast of light creates a frame of time that can be used to paint on with light. I call it flash-canvas light painting. In this case, simply the motion of the models created blurred streaks of light.
